CVE-2021-27925Network attack vector

Administrator credential disclosure via unredacted audit error

Published May 19, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Information disclosure in Couchbase Server 6.5.0 through 6.6.1 allows remote authenticated users to expose administrator credentials. A failed TLS hostname-and-port check for an incoming view-merge request writes unredacted Base64 authentication data for the internal @ns_server administrator to ns_server.info.log. The network path requires high privileges, View Engine auditing, node-to-node encryption, and the rare race; impact is limited to credential disclosure through the log.
