View-only configuration tampering via missing Web Console authorization
Published Apr 6, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Authorization bypass in Proofpoint Insider Threat Management Server before 7.11.1 allows remote authenticated users to alter settings. Several Web Console pages omit authorization checks and accept configuration changes or agent-deletion requests from view-only accounts. A view-only account and network access to the console are required; successful exploitation can rewrite any configuration setting or delete any registered agent.
