Cross-site scripting via case-sensitive URI filtering
Published Feb 25, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Cross-site scripting in comrak before 0.9.1 allows attackers to execute JavaScript in rendered Markdown through mixed-case unsafe URI schemes. The dangerous_url lexer rule matches data:, javascript:, vbscript:, and file: prefixes case-sensitively, so variants such as Data: remain active links. Exploitation requires an application to render attacker-controlled Markdown and a user to follow the crafted link, exposing data or actions available to that browser session.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
