Unauthenticated account takeover via forced password reset
Published Apr 29, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Improper authentication in Pega Infinity 8.2.1 through 8.5.2 allows remote attackers to reset local-account passwords. The reset flow accepts a forced POST to Code-Security.pzChangeUserPassword with guest authorization, allowing its confirmation stage to be skipped. No credentials or user interaction are required, and changing an administrator password grants account control and access to administrator-only actions.
