File disclosure and crashes via external entities
Published Jun 9, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
XML external entity injection in SAP NetWeaver AS for Java 7.20 through 7.50 allows remote authenticated users to read server files. Communication Profiles in the ESP framework accepts crafted XML and resolves external entities without validating or restricting their referenced resources. Administrator access and network reachability are required; exploitation can expose any filesystem file or crash server processes, but cannot modify data.
