Unauthenticated crash via negative packet length
Published Jun 9, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
An out-of-bounds write in SAP ABAP Platform Dispatcher allows remote attackers to crash the application server with a crafted packet. DpRTmPrepareReq() subtracts a shorter-than-normal packet length into a negative value, accepts a matching attacker-supplied value, and reuses it as the size of the next operation. No authentication or system-specific knowledge is required; exploitation interrupts availability without reading or modifying application data.
