Unauthenticated user enumeration via reset responses
Published Feb 23, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
User enumeration in Directus 8.0.0 through 8.8.1 allows remote attackers to identify registered email addresses via password resets. The password-reset endpoint returns a user-not-found error for an unregistered address but reports that reset mail was sent for a registered one. No authentication is required, and repeated address guesses disclose account membership that can support password guessing.
