Browser script execution via app.alert DOM injection
Published Jul 20, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Cross-site scripting in Foxit PDF SDK for Web 7.5.0 and earlier allows attackers to execute JavaScript when a victim uploads a crafted PDF. The SDK inserts the Acrobat JavaScript API app.alert() message into the HTML DOM as executable HTML instead of treating it as text. Exploitation requires a victim to upload a PDF containing embedded JavaScript, enabling code execution in that browser context.
