Code execution via unchecked STP parsing
Published May 27, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stack-based buffer overflow in KeyShot Studio 10.1 and earlier allows local users to execute code by importing malicious STP files. The luxion_geometry.exe Datakit importer parses attacker-supplied STP data without proper validation, allowing a stack overwrite. Exploitation requires a user to open the crafted file locally and runs code in the current process context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=CatiaV5_3dRead, CatiaV6_3dRead, Step3dRead, Ug3dReadPsr, Jt3dReadPsr modules in KeyShot Versions v10.1 and prior
