CVE-2021-27462Network attack vector

Unauthenticated command execution via unsafe deserialization

Published Mar 23, 2022 · Updated Apr 16, 2025

Deserialization of untrusted data in Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk AssetCentre v10.00 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands via AosService.rem. The AosService.rem service verifies serialized data without safely validating its contents before deserialization, allowing crafted network requests to reach command execution. No authentication or user interaction is required, so an attacker able to reach the service can compromise confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the FactoryTalk deployment.
