CVE-2021-27406Public exploitNetwork attack vector

SYSTEM code execution via unauthenticated config command

Published Oct 14, 2022 · Updated Apr 16, 2025

External configuration control in PerFact OpenVPN-Client 1.4.1.0 and earlier allows local users to execute code as SYSTEM. The localhost service on TCP port 10700 accepts an unauthenticated config path, launches OpenVPN as SYSTEM, and honors script directives from that file. A browser-based remote path requires user interaction and access to an attacker-hosted SMB share, while any local process can submit the command directly.
