Authenticated SYSTEM code execution via unsanitized filename
Published Mar 29, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Command injection in NETGEAR ProSAFE Network Management System 1.6.0.26 allows remote authenticated users to execute code as SYSTEM. SettingConfigController passes the user-controlled fileName parameter to a system call without properly validating command content. Access to the affected interface is required, but the existing authentication mechanism can be bypassed, yielding full SYSTEM-context execution.
