Unauthenticated root access via manipulated authentication method parameter
Published Mar 3, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Authentication bypass in genua genugate allows remote attackers to access its web interfaces as arbitrary users, including root. A manipulated HTTP POST method parameter selects a login authentication method that does not validate supplied data and returns success for every request. Exploitation requires network access to the Admin, Sidechannel Web, or Userweb interface and grants the chosen account's privileges; certified deployments isolate the admin interface on a separate network.
