Authenticated command execution via backup comment
Published Feb 15, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
OS command injection in Endian Firewall Community 3.3.2 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary commands through a backup comment. The backup workflow passes shell metacharacters embedded in the comment field to a shell, so command substitution such as $(id) runs when the backup starts. Access to the management web application and permission to create a backup are required, and injected commands execute as the nobody account.
