SYSTEM escalation via privileged plugin dialogs
Published Mar 25, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Local privilege escalation in Netop Vision Pro 9.7.1 and earlier allows local users to gain SYSTEM privileges on Windows clients. The student client launches Internet Explorer and plugin Save As dialogs as SYSTEM instead of dropping to the signed-in student's privileges. A non-administrator with interactive access can use those dialogs to start cmd.exe, whose process inherits SYSTEM privileges.
