Sensitive-data interception via unvalidated server certificates
Published Feb 22, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Improper certificate validation in CIRA Canadian Shield before 4.0.13 for iOS allows man-in-the-middle attackers to capture sensitive data. When connecting to its application server, the app silently accepts a bogus SSL certificate instead of validating it. Exploitation requires control of the network path, and the demonstrated consequence is interception of sensitive information without the user’s knowledge.
