Command execution via shell-interpreted smbclient arguments
Published Feb 10, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Command injection in eflexsystems samba-client before 4.0.0 allows remote attackers to execute commands through untrusted connection parameters. The execute method builds one smbclient command string from connection and operation arguments and passes it to child_process.exec, which interprets shell metacharacters. Exploitation requires a consuming Node.js application to pass attacker-controlled values into the library; commands then run with that application's host privileges.
