CVE-2021-27184Public exploit

Local file disclosure via unsanitized DTD entities

Published Feb 11, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

XML external entity injection in Pelco Digital Sentry Server 7.18.72.11464 allows local users to read arbitrary files. DSControlPoint.exe parses an attacker-created ControlPointCacheShare.xml from the writable %APPDATA%\Pelco directory without blocking parameter entities, so a crafted DTD reads a local file and sends its contents to an attacker-controlled HTTP server. Exploitation requires access to create the cache file in a user profile and induce DSControlPoint.exe to parse it; the demonstrated consequence is out-of-band disclosure of local file contents.
