User-privileged requests via anti-CSRF token fixation
Published Apr 14, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
CSRF in MDaemon Remote Administration before 20.0.4 allows remote attackers to submit requests with an authenticated user's privileges. The interface accepts an attacker-fixed anti-CSRF token, allowing a later malicious page to reuse its known value to authorize forged requests. Exploitation requires the user to open an attacker-supplied URL, authenticate successfully, and then visit the malicious page; resulting actions are limited to that user's privileges.
