CVE-2021-27032

Local privilege escalation via weak service permissions

Published May 28, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Privilege escalation in Autodesk Licensing Installer 9.0.1.1462.100 and earlier allows local users to execute code with elevated privileges. The installer assigns weak permissions to an elevated licensing service, allowing ordinary users to modify its configuration and take ownership. A local account with limited privileges is sufficient, and successful abuse yields control of the elevated service and its execution context.
