Local privilege escalation through undisclosed Event Tracing flaw
Published Mar 11, 2021 · Updated Aug 19, 2026
Elevation of privilege in Microsoft Windows Event Tracing allows local users with low privileges to execute code with elevated rights. Microsoft has not disclosed the faulty Event Tracing code path or the operation it performs incorrectly on attacker-controlled data. Exploitation requires prior local code execution, and successful exploitation grants control at a higher privilege level on an affected installation.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
