Script execution via unsanitized markdown event handlers
Published Jun 18, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored cross-site scripting in Znote 0.5.2 allows attackers to execute JavaScript when a crafted note opens in markdown view mode. The markdown viewer renders embedded SVG or iframe event-handler markup from note content as active HTML without neutralizing it. Exploitation requires attacker-controlled markdown to reach the application and a user to open its rendered view; published evidence establishes viewer-context script execution only.
