CVE-2021-26736

SYSTEM privilege escalation via unquoted search path

Published Oct 23, 2023 · Updated Feb 27, 2025

Unquoted search paths in Zscaler Client Connector for Windows before 3.6 allow local users to execute code with SYSTEM privileges. The privileged installer and uninstaller invoke binaries through unquoted filesystem paths, allowing a lower-privileged path location to supply the executable. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access and interaction with an affected install or uninstall operation; successful execution grants SYSTEM control.
