Reflected XSS via unescaped search query
Published Feb 5, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Reflected XSS in LinkedIn Oncall 1.4.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute script in a user's browser via a crafted /query URL. The search-bar empty-result renderer inserts resp.query into the "No results found for" HTML without output encoding, causing browser interpretation as markup and JavaScript. Exploitation requires a user to open the crafted URL and activate the search bar, after which injected JavaScript runs in that browser origin.
