Arbitrary file writes via TAR path traversal
Published Feb 9, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Path traversal in affected Gradle Enterprise Distributed Testing components allows remote authenticated users to write arbitrary files. The TAR unpacker accepts upward traversal entries or filesystem links and extracts them outside the intended directory. Exposure requires network access and agent-registration or test-distribution credentials; agent and plugin versions before 1.3.2 and Maven extension 1.8 through 1.8.1 are affected.
