Script execution via unencoded dataset parameter
Published Mar 1, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Reflected XSS in EPrints 3.4.2 allows remote attackers to execute script in a user's browser through the dataset parameter. The cgi/dataset_dictionary script reflects the untrusted query value into generated HTML without adequate output encoding. Exploitation requires user interaction with a crafted request, and the resulting script runs in the repository site's browser context.
