Administrative credential disclosure via plaintext configuration storage
Published Feb 9, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Cleartext credential storage in SmartFoxServer 2.17.0 allows local users to read administrative passwords from /config/server.xml. The server stores administrative credentials directly in the server.xml configuration file without hashing or encryption. A low-privilege local account with permission to read the file can recover credentials for later administrative access; no network-only path is reported.
