CVE-2021-26411Known exploitationPublic exploitNetwork attack vector

Remote code execution via stale attribute-array index

Published Mar 11, 2021 · Updated Aug 19, 2026

Use-after-free in MSHTML in Microsoft Internet Explorer and Edge Legacy allows remote attackers to execute code via crafted web content. CElement::ie9_removeAttributeNodeInternal calculates attribute-array indices before a user-controlled callback, then reuses them after clearAttributes changes the backing store, causing a double free. A victim must open the malicious content; successful exploitation supplies an arbitrary memory read-write primitive and code execution in the browser context.
