Interpreter crash via unchecked source-file read failure
Published Jun 10, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Improper exceptional-condition handling in JerryScript 2.4.0 allows context-dependent attackers to crash the interpreter via crafted JavaScript. main_print_unhandled_exception treats crafted SyntaxError text as source-location data, does not check the null buffer returned when file 0 cannot be opened, and dereferences it. Execution of the crafted script and use of the affected command-line exception printer are required; exploitation terminates that interpreter process.
