Privilege escalation via crafted automation script configuration
Published Dec 8, 2021 · Updated Oct 25, 2024
Improper access control in the FortiOS autod daemon and FortiProxy allows local users with low privileges to gain super_admin access. The daemon accepts a crafted fabric automation CLI script or auto-script configuration without enforcing the caller's privilege boundary. Reachability requires an authenticated low-privileged account and local access; successful exploitation grants full administrative control.
