Unauthenticated local file inclusion via module layout settings
Published Apr 14, 2021 · Updated Feb 25, 2026
Local file inclusion in Joomla! CMS 3.0.0 through 3.9.25 allows remote attackers to read local files via crafted module layout settings. The product accepts an insufficiently filtered layout value when processing module settings, allowing local file inclusion; Joomla has not published the exact code locus or filter failure. The request is unauthenticated and network-reachable, and the documented consequence is local-file disclosure rather than file modification or service interruption.
