Account takeover via numeric-entity sanitization bypass
Published Aug 15, 2021 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
Stored XSS in the WYSIWYG Editor module of Dolibarr ERP & CRM 2.8.1 through 13.0.2 allows remote authenticated users to hijack accounts. The checkVal sanitizer fails to normalize malformed or nested numeric HTML entities before filtering, allowing obfuscated script handlers to survive. Exploitation requires a low-privilege account able to update the targeted Private Note and an administrator to view it; session ID access enables account takeover.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
