CVE-2021-25918Network attack vector

Stored script execution via unencoded user name

Published Mar 22, 2021 · Updated Apr 30, 2025

Stored XSS in OpenEMR 5.0.2 through 6.0.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute script through a crafted user's full name. The TOTP registration pages insert the stored user_full_name value into HTML legend elements without applying OpenEMR's text() output encoder. Creating the payload requires highly privileged user-management access, and execution requires another user to open the affected MFA page.
