Authenticated file deletion via unvalidated image name
Published Aug 11, 2023 · Updated Oct 9, 2024
Path traversal in superMicro-CMS 3.11 allows remote authenticated users to delete server files through the image manager. In admin/images.php, the delete handler appends the unvalidated delete parameter to ../img/, checks the resulting path, and passes it to unlink. Access requires a logged-in management session, and reachable deletion is limited by the web-server account's filesystem permissions.
