CVE-2021-25698

Local privilege escalation via OpenSSL DLL autoload

Published Jul 21, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Untrusted DLL search path handling in Teradici PCoIP Standard Agent before 21.07.0 allows local users to gain process privileges. Its OpenSSL component was compiled without the no-autoload-config option, so OpenSSL loads configuration and a crafted DLL from a build-configuration directory. Exploitation requires local placement of the DLL and user interaction, after which its code runs with the affected process's privileges.
