CVE-2021-25511

Arbitrary file write via FilterProvider path traversal

Published Dec 8, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Improper input validation in FilterProvider in Samsung Mobile Devices P(9.0), Q(10.0), and R(11.0) lets local users write arbitrary files. The component fails to constrain path input before file creation, allowing traversal outside the intended location. Exploitation requires local high-privilege context and user interaction, and can alter protected files; Samsung states that SMR Dec-2021 Release 1 adds validation.
