Temporary service interruption via unchecked sspInit RPC
Published Sep 9, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Improper authorization in Samsung Mobile Devices before SMR Sep-2021 Release 1 allows local users to interrupt /dev/ssp access. The sspInit RPC in BlockchainTZService omits a privilege check, allowing any app to start the service and temporarily deny access to the /dev/ssp device node. A locally installed app can trigger the interruption without user interaction or elevated privileges; no data access or persistent device disruption is reported.
