Out-of-bounds read in Samsung Mobile Devices Android 8.1–11 before SMR Sep-2021 Release 1 lets attackers access arbitrary addresses via forged AVI files. The libsaviextractor.so parser follows a pointer derived from malformed AVI data without sufficient bounds checking, producing an out-of-bounds read. Exploitation requires local delivery and user interaction to process the forged media; published assessments limit impact to confidentiality or integrity effects, not service interruption.
