System-UID file write via faulty path validation
Published Sep 9, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Path traversal in Samsung Mobile Devices before SMR Sep-2021 Release 1 allows attackers to write files via a remote socket. FactoryAirCommandManager's file-path validation logic incorrectly accepts traversal paths instead of confining the requested output location. Exploitation requires adjacent-network access, low privileges, user interaction, and high-complexity conditions; a successful write runs with the system UID.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
