CVE-2021-25437

Code execution via replaceable FOTA update file

Published Jul 8, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Improper access control in Samsung Electronics Tizen before the July 2021 firmware update allows attackers to execute arbitrary code. The FOTA service accepts an attacker-replaced firmware-over-the-air update file without enforcing the required access control before processing it. An affected Galaxy Watch must process the substituted update; public sources do not disclose the required access path or the precise missing check.
