Improper input validation in Samsung Contacts before SMR JUN-2021 Release 1 allows local users to copy or overwrite arbitrary files. The exported SetProfilePhotoActivity trusts attacker-controlled shared_photo_uri and temp_photo_uri values, then transfers content through providers with Samsung Contacts privileges. Exploitation requires an attacker-controlled app on an affected Android 9, 10, or 11 device and enables file theft or replacement within the app privilege boundary.
