CVE-2021-25408

Local code execution via NPU driver overflow

Published Jun 11, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Buffer overflow in the NPU driver in Samsung Mobile Devices before SMR JUN-2021 Release 1 allows local users to execute code. The NPU driver lacks a proper boundary check, so an oversized input can overflow its destination and produce an arbitrary memory write. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access and an Exynos 9820, 9830, 980, or 2100 device running Android 9, 10, or 11.
