Account password replacement via disabled confirmation default
Published Jan 19, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Weak password-change validation in MISP 2.4.136 allows remote authenticated users to replace an account password without the old password. The default app/Config/config.default.php omitted require_password_confirmation=true, so the password-change flow accepted a new password without validating the current one. Control of a valid victim session is required, after which an attacker can retain account access by setting a new password and locking out the victim.
