CVE-2021-25311Network attack vector

Authenticated root execution via credential path traversal

Published Jan 27, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Path traversal in condor_credd in HTCondor 8.9.7 through 8.9.10 allows remote authenticated users to write attacker-chosen files as root. The daemon fails to confine requested credential-file paths to SEC_CREDENTIAL_DIRECTORY_OAUTH and writes supplied contents under root ownership. Exposure requires CredD in DAEMON_LIST, either explicitly or through use feature:OAUTH; a planted file under /etc can later execute as root.
