Authenticated command execution via unsanitized Cloud-VM address
Published Feb 15, 2021 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
OS command injection in the Nagios XI Cloud-VM wizard in 5.5.6 through 5.7.5 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands. The wizard reads the ip_address request parameter and concatenates it without sanitization into a ping command passed to PHP exec(). A valid low-privileged Nagios XI session and CSRF token reach the vulnerable wizard; injected commands run as the Apache service account, allowing host data access, modification, and service interruption.
