Authenticated command execution via unsanitized IP address
Published Feb 15, 2021 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
OS command injection in the Nagios XI 5.7.5 Switch configuration wizard allows remote authenticated users to execute commands as apache. The switch_configwizard_add_cfg_to_mrtg() function incorporates the ip_address value into a file path that is interpolated unquoted into a sed command passed to PHP exec(). A valid admin or non-admin session and wizard security token are required, and successful exploitation runs commands with the web-server account's privileges.
