Regular expression denial of service in Pillow before 8.1.1 allows remote attackers to cause a processing hang via a crafted PDF file. PdfParser.py combines overlapping optional-whitespace and newline repetitions, causing catastrophic backtracking on crafted line endings. A user or application must process the supplied PDF, and the resulting CPU exhaustion can hang the consuming application.
