Browser script execution via unsanitized SVG background upload
Published Mar 19, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in FTAPI 4.0 through 4.10 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript through an uploaded SVG background image. The Submit Box Template Editor accepts an SVG containing script and stores it in the public /api/2/staticfile/ directory without sufficient filtering. Administrative access is required to upload the file, and a victim must visit it; execution occurs in the victim's browser and enables session compromise.
