CVE-2021-25132

Local BMC compromise via media configuration overflow

Published Jan 29, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Buffer overflow in HPE Cloudline Gen9 and Gen10 server BMC firmware allows local users to corrupt memory through media configuration. The spx_restservice setMediaconfig_func routine writes media configuration data past a local buffer boundary, although HPE has not published the specific unchecked field. Low-privileged local access is required, and exploitation can compromise BMC confidentiality, integrity, and availability without user interaction.
