Unauthenticated ban bypass via URL parameter
Published Feb 7, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Authorization bypass in IP2Location Country Blocker before 2.26.5 allows remote attackers to access content blocked by country rules via a crafted URL parameter. The plugin's request filtering logic accepts a specific query parameter that causes banned requests to proceed instead of enforcing the configured country restriction. No authentication or user interaction is required, so any network client able to reach the WordPress site can evade the ban and retrieve otherwise restricted frontend or administrative content.
